reduction
Antibiotic resistance in livestock farming
is a global problem. More and more bacteria
are able to develop resistance against certain
antibiotics, making it increasingly more difficult
to find medication against this type of pathogen.
The Netherlands started 6 years ago with the reduction
of antibiotics in intensive livestock farming.
In 6 years’ time, the use of antibiotics has been reduced by 58%.
What is remarkable, however, is that despite this reduction the technical
results in this industry have still improved.
